Meridium Announces Release of Version 1.3 of RCMO
[ 3/11/2008 ]

Roanoke, VA, USA – Meridium Inc., the leader in asset performance management (APM) software solutions, today announced the release of version 1.3 of RCMO™ (Reliability Centered Maintenance and Optimization). The product was co-developed by SAP and Meridium, and designed to operate exclusively with the SAP® Enterprise Asset Management™ solution. Customers who have implemented RCMO include Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company, TransAlta, AES, and Queensland Alumina Ltd.

RCMO™ version 1.3 provides users with:

  • Enhancements to the “Build Notification” feature – allows users to build notifications for more than one technical object and also provide the option of mapping the RCMO recommendation data into Tasks on the Notification.
  • Feature for running RCMO without connection to an SAP ERP backend system – allows RCMO to be integrated into reliability processes before the SAP ERP system goes live. This is primarily for new SAP installations, new plant construction, or situations where customers are migrating from other vendors systems to SAP.
  • Enhancements to the RCMO analysis search feature – Users have the ability to locate analyses by various analysis properties, team member, technical object, or recommendation.
  • Task Lists are now available in RCMO along side Maintenance Plans, Maintenance Items, and Notifications - Users also have access to ITS links to create general, equipment, or functional location task lists from RCMO.
  • Ability to design Risk Matrix configurations directly in the RCMO Administration screens – XML editing is no longer the only option for defining risk matrices.
  • Link to a configurable reference Decision Diagram – can provide the RCM/FMEA team quick access to their company’s standard decision logic.
  • Enhancements to the Technical Object Hierarchy window - supports launching the SAP Structure transaction.  The RCMO Technical Object Hierarchy window is limited to Functional Locations and Equipment structures, but through the SAP Structure transaction it’s possible for the user to view lower-level assembly and bill of material items for a Technical Object.

About RCMO

Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) is a proven methodology for the development of asset strategies by assessing how assets fail and the associated safety, environment and economic impacts. For decades, manufacturers have used RCM to optimize equipment performance, control risk and improve asset reliability. Unfortunately, many RCM initiatives are never institutionalized due to the challenges of implementation within EAM systems and the difficulty of measuring the effectiveness of the program over time.

SAP and Meridium are addressing the typical challenges of RCM initiatives with RCMOTM, a new RCM solution completely integrated within SAP and built with SAP’s NetWeaverTM technology. RCMOTM greatly simplifies the process of implementing RCM recommendations in SAP, and makes it easy to measure performance and make adjustments over time.

RCMO is a “Certified by SAP NetWeaver” product that:

  • Offers a browser-based user interface integrated into SAP Enterprise Portal
  • Provides the framework for users to define maintenance strategies based upon RCM and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) principles.
  • Integrates the recommendations from an RCM analysis into SAP Maintenance Plans, Items and Notifications.
  • Integrates with SAP Business Warehouse to drive automated re-evaluation of maintenance strategies to ensure effectiveness is constantly measured for continuous improvement.
